In this short video, I explain why EFT goes deeper when sessions follow each other closely, and how we keep that safe on screen.

Back-to-back EFT online couples therapy brings EFT, emotion-focused couples therapy, into a concentrated block. You and your partner meet me by video for several sessions within a few days, instead of once every two or three weeks.
It suits English-speaking couples anywhere who are caught in the same emotional cycle, want to work on it in depth and cannot fit months of regular sessions into their lives. It combines EFT online couples therapy with the format of back-to-back online couples therapy.
You can ask for a free 30-minute call, book a session, read my client policy or write to me.

These reviews describe clients’ experiences of working with me. They come from my wider practice and do not all relate to online sessions. Each person’s experience is their own, and a review does not promise a particular outcome.
“Since training with the EFT Institute in Copenhagen, I have learned to wait for one moment in particular: when a partner finally lets the other see the fear they have been guarding all along. Underneath, one partner is often asking ‘Do I still matter to you?’, and the other ‘Will I ever be good enough for you?’. EFT helps those questions be heard. When sessions follow each other closely, nobody has to climb back up to that moment from the beginning, so it comes more easily.”
Mark Colclough, MA, psychotherapist and EFT couples therapist
I am Mark Colclough, MA. I have practised since 2004 and offer online psychotherapy and couples therapy in English.
My training brings together your emotions, your thoughts and your relationships. My deep passion is the moment when what happens between you finally makes sense, to each of you and to each other. I have lived and worked in nine countries, so I know something of life across languages, cultures and borders.
Read about my background, or explore online psychotherapy and online couples therapy.
I meet regularly with experienced psychotherapists to reflect on my work, question my understanding and develop my skills. Supervision is part of the professional care I bring to individual and couples work, including online sessions.
My focus is thoughtful practice, integrity and responsibility.
You are welcome to ask about the kind of support you need.

Clara and Hiroshi live in Berlin and both work long, unpredictable hours. Their fights follow the same path: Clara raises something that hurt her, Hiroshi explains why it was not what she thinks, then goes silent, and Clara gets louder. Regular sessions kept being cancelled for work.
They book three EFT sessions over two days. In the first, we name the cycle. In the second, Hiroshi says for the first time that he goes silent because he feels he can never get it right. In the third, Clara softens and reaches for him. They log off with a shared name for their cycle and a follow-up date.
I have presented this clinical example as a compound of 22 years of clinical practice.
The hurt is close to the surface. A single hour stops just before you reach it.
EFT works in layers, and back-to-back EFT online couples therapy uses that. First we see the cycle, then we reach what drives it, then we change how you turn to each other. With weeks between sessions, much of each hour goes on finding the way back into that layer.
In back-to-back EFT online couples therapy, each session starts where the last one stopped, so the softer conversations come sooner.
Whether it starts with chores, money or the phone, you both know how it ends. One of you raises the issue, the other defends, and you finish in separate rooms.
We step back from the topic and look at the cycle itself, the one you are both caught in.
One of you reaches out with questions, complaints or tears. The other freezes, explains or leaves. Each reaction feeds the other.
EFT shows how both moves are attempts to protect the bond, even when they push you apart.
You may sense fear, grief or shame just under the arguments, yet each session ends before either of you can say it.
With sessions close together, there is time to slow down enough for those feelings to be spoken.
A moment of betrayal, a missed birth, words said in anger years ago. Some injuries come back in every fight.
EFT has a clear way of returning to them, so the hurt partner feels understood and the other can respond with care.
Two careers, travel, children or living in different countries can make a long series of regular sessions impossible.
A block lets you give EFT the time it needs in the days you can actually free up.
You may have read about EFT, watched talks or worked through a book. Now you want to try it properly, with enough time to go below the surface together.
A block gives the method room to do what it was designed to do.
Does this sound like the two of you? Request a call or book a session, and we will plan your back-to-back EFT online couples therapy together.

Seeing the cycle is the start. Feeling safe enough to step out of it together is the change.
The opening sessions calm the cycle by naming it together. The middle ones go to the attachment feelings and needs beneath it. The closing ones practise new ways of reaching for each other, so you leave with a different way of meeting.
I trace each step of a typical hard moment with you: what each of you notices, feels, thinks and does. Seeing it in slow motion is often the first relief.
Yes. Under anger there is often fear. Under silence, often shame or a sense of failing. In a block, there is time to find those feelings and stay with them.
Yes. The most important moments in EFT come when one partner shows the other what they have been afraid of all along. Close sessions make those moments easier to reach.
When your partner shows something vulnerable, the old reflex may be to defend or fix. I help you respond to the feeling instead, there and then on screen.
Yes. EFT has a structured way of working with attachment injuries, the moments when one of you was not there when it mattered most. A block gives that work continuity.
Before the block ends, we name the cycle together, agree how you will catch it at home and book follow-up sessions so the change has support.

Back-to-back EFT online couples therapy is deep work. I pace it carefully, with breaks and time to recover.
We begin with a short call to agree what you want to work on and whether EFT in a block suits you now. Then we plan the number of sessions and the days with you.
Two 2-hour EFT sessions can be held on one day, with a long break between them. This suits couples who can free up a single day.
Two or three days running let you sleep on each session and come back with what the night has stirred up.
Three or four sessions within one week keep the emotional thread alive while leaving space for daily life.
Weekend times are sometimes possible, depending on what I have free. Ask when you write to me.
Back-to-back EFT online couples therapy can be tiring. I watch how you both are, slow down when needed and make sure you leave each day steady enough to rest.
We agree what follows the block. That might be a few follow-up sessions, ongoing EFT online couples therapy or a planned stop.
Not sure this is the right format? Here are the closest options.
| Option | Choose it when | Pace |
|---|---|---|
| Back-to-back EFT online couples therapy (this page) | You want EFT in depth, within a few days. | Several 2-hour EFT sessions close together |
| EFT online couples therapy | You prefer EFT in a regular rhythm. | A series of 2-hour sessions over months |
| Back-to-back online couples therapy | You want a block, without a set method. | Several 2-hour sessions close together |
| EFT online couples therapy alone | Your partner will not join. | 1-hour sessions on your own |
It is EFT, emotion-focused couples therapy, delivered as a short block of online sessions close together. It suits couples who are stuck in the same emotional cycle and want depth in a short time. We meet by video, in English, wherever you live.
The method is the same. Only the rhythm changes. Instead of meeting every few weeks, you meet several times within a few days, so the emotional work does not cool down between sessions.
Yes. EFT is among the most studied forms of couples therapy and is used in many countries. Research describes groups, though, not you. In our first session, I tell you honestly how I see your situation.
EFT works best when you both want to stay and are willing to look at your own part. If one of you is unsure or wants to leave, online divorce therapy or online couples therapy is usually the better start.
Often, yes, once the first shock has passed. Right after an affair comes out, online couples therapy after infidelity helps you steady things first. A focused EFT block can then help you work through the injury together.
For most couples, yes. You join from a quiet, private room, on one screen or from two places. Many people find it easier to open up from home.
For back-to-back EFT online couples therapy, many couples choose three to six sessions for a first block. We agree the number beforehand and review it as we go.
It can be intense, which is why I plan breaks and keep an eye on both of you. We slow down whenever one of you needs it.
Each EFT session is a 2-hour online couples session. Current fees, in US dollars, are on my prices page. Because a block involves several sessions, a therapy bundle saves you 10 per cent.
Ask for a free 30-minute call or write to me. Tell me briefly about the cycle you are stuck in, which days might work and where each of you is, and we will agree a plan before you book.
